He's in jail! Now what do I do?*

I’ve been in a relationship for a year now. It was great until 2 weeks ago, when my boyfriend called me from jail to tell me that he was arrested for drug possession with the intent to sell (a job I didn’t know he had). Even though he loves me, he has to do 18 months. I’m not sure that I can wait for him; looking for ways to tell him without making his time any harder.

u gotta keep it real w/ that person.. tell em the real deal on how u feel.. even if it makes it harder for himself in there.. just like what everyone is saying on here.. BUT u also have to understand that some ppl come from the struggle and they aint got it like how others do, he might of been doing that to fulfill ur needs (like take u shopping/movies/dinner etc).. if u really love that person u gotta understand his part too cuz leaving someone u love just shows weakness on ur side.. u aint a ride or die chick is what i'm trying to say...

You should tell him how you feel straight up and not worry about making his time in jail any harder cuz he needs to realize that HE did the crime so now HE has to do the time. Why should you suffer when he betrayed you, and now YOU need to wait for him? That is a no no!! It's your life too, so by you keepin it real with him, it gives him something to think about for those 18 months. Make better changes for yourself girl!!

I'm a firm believer in how you do anything is how you do EVERYTHING! If you begin a relationship on a foundation of lies and deception and withholding, there will ALWAYS be lies and deception and withholding. My advice... Concern yourself with YOU... FIRST! Don't worry about making his time "easier" ... He's clearly not worthy of such consideration... Was he that considerate of YOUR feelings when he withheld important information from you? I think not.

if he really wanted a relationship with her he should have laid all his cards on the table. no excuses. and obviously it wasn't past experiences because the nigga got arrested for posession with intent to sell. sounds like ol' boy is full of shit to me.

Well he shuldve at least try..wat made him think think that holdin a secret like she would change her mind if nethin now instead of the. Drugdealin the lyin is wat she has to worry about..he risked da relationship either way

The boyfriend was afraid to tell her because he felt she wouldn't have given him a chance for a relationship based on past experiences. He intended to tell her at some point, but he never expected to end up in jail.

I totally agree..he shulda been honest n told u wat he does n let u decide whether or not u can stik by someone who does that..let him kno that he did mess up n that u can not be wit a person who lies n also does illegal things..

Just tell him that he fucked up, he lied to you, never told you the REAL shit, and get on with your life....what else you gonna do for 18 months? If he loved you, why didn't he tell you that in the first place? Don't make sense...also, if he didn't tell you that, what else did he hide from you that he got away with? I'm just saying...not worth it at all...move on!
